Life with Jace...

Whew! We'd forgotten what life with a 6-year-old is like! Jace gave us a quick refresher course this week. It's been a whirlwind of noise, movement, energy, appetite, piles of 'cool' rocks and smiles!!! Jace is our Andrea's little boy, for those of you who don't know.

We got here last Saturday, late afternoon. Sunday morning, we all went to church and luckily, the class Grandpa Steve teaches is the same age group Jace is in at home,so he enjoyed being the teacher's grandson.
On Sunday night the boys had cookies and milk while Grandpa took his blood pressure.
Monday morning early (well, early for US!) they were off to the forest to see what kinds of cool stuff could be seen, found and brought home. Jace came back with a ton or two or rocks (see 2nd picture down) and these were only the ones he didn't toss back because he couldn't carry all of them! They also got to see several elk and some cattle.
Monday night the men watched some show where a hulky-type guy pulled a plane on the tarmac... Apparently I should have taken a second shot of them as this one looks kind of like they were nipping at some inappropriate beverage! This was one tired boy Monday night, so he went to bed with no hassle.... here seen with Auntie Kristi's Build-a-Bear "Dr. K" bear... (stripped down to his shorts, of course!) to keep him company.
And to document this for posterity, I took a picture of his bed, which he made up all by himself without being told on Tuesday morning! Good job, Jace!
Then, Grandpa gave him some one-on-one, fire-building lessons.
Lesson #1: Wadding up the paper, just right...

Lesson #2: Placing the kindling just right...

Lesson #3: Then the stuff a little bigger goes on top of that... (Jace: "Man! I love getting to play in the fire... WITH PERMISSION!)

Is it going to work???? Ahhh... sweet success!
The only problem we had was that he really crossed the line when he commandeered my computer!!! Of course, I wasn't willing to make THAT big of a sacrifice, so I set him up at the laptop... Whew! That was close!
The guys played football...Jace rode his scooter.......but all too soon, it was time for him to go home.... with all his treasured boy-stuff. (He spent time cutting up and decorating the box, then named it "Jackson"... ??? It sat in the rocking chair and watched TV with them!)So long, my boy! It was great fun... Sure Love Ya!!! xox

That was really fun following the guys around! The photographer was pretty busy herself following them around also! Thanks for sharing those ~ what a great memory for him. Juanita

We just got back from visiting 4 of our grand children in Utah. They keep you hopping, but I wouldn't miss it for anything. Just wish they lived closer so we could see them more often.
