What a week!

We've had a fun week with our daughter, Karen, her boys Jake & Garrison visiting us. This was also Mountain View High School Toro Camp week up here at Mogollon High School, Heber, Az., which was really the main reason for the visit! Karen's son, Keaton, was at the camp in preparation for the 2008 Football season. Keaton is a Junior this year and hoping for lots of play time with the team.

Karen and the boys arrived on Tuesday and have had a really busy week, what with her trying to get in all the time she could at the camp to watch Keaton, and working her full-time job via her computer... or mobile office as it were, plus keeping Jake and Garrison occupied.

Actually, the boys were pretty good at taking care of themselves as long as they had their portable DVD & VHS players. This is where Jake decided to park himself at night and until we could finally get him out of bed in the mornings!
In between trips to the football field, (and the local restaurants!) this is where we could find Karen.... She has a great job that is almost totally done online, so she brought her 'office' with her and set it all up in the guest bedroom. The weather has been incredible with some rain and lots of cool breezes and overcast skies. The window to the left of her was always open blessing her with fresh air and the songs of little birds.
Ok, now for the best part.... Steve's famous breakfasts with Garrison's good help! A culinary team to boast about.I think Grandpa was peeking over Garrison's shoulder in the next picture to find out what his secret ingredients are for his world-famous scrambled eggs. We found out the secrets, but they will remain within the family until he decides to publish his first cookbook someday!

Jake, however, couldn't wait for breakfast to begin eating and opted for an appetizer of a leftover Dairy Queen treat! Yum!

Here is another visitor who decided to join the fun... the boys were finding all kinds of creatures that the rains brought out.

Thursday, the 24th, was Keaton's 17'th birthday... and here is where he enjoyed his birthday dinner... A great little family-style restaurant in Overgaard. There were several of their family friends and a fellow team mate in attendance.

Hey, hey, hey! Happy Birthday, Keaton!

Everyone headed home this morning to get back to real life and the humid heat of the Mesa monsoon season!

I'm definitely missing my window and your weather. Thanks for having a cabin on the mountain where my son plays football ... a perfect situation!
