I received word early yesterday morning that my niece, Sandra, had passed away unexpectedly during the night... what a shocker! She'd been sick, but it didn't appear to be anything very serious and was under a doctor's care... We, at this point, have no information regarding the cause of her death. Her husband of 18 years passed away less than two years ago on August 30, 2008. They have left behind 2 teenaged boys, 15 and 18. This is going to be a really hard thing for them... they will need a lot of help from the families...
Sandra is my sister's daughter. My sister passed away April 1, 1981. Sand, as she like to call herself, was a good person, upbeat and strong, even during tough times... She was 43 years old. I had the privilege of having a nice visit with her in Tempe late in May when she was down from Utah for her brother's wedding. I hadn't seen her for many years, as she has lived out of state most of her adult life. We had gotten very close during the last couple of years... I am so grateful for this renewed relationship and to have had the opportunity to share a lot of special feelings and memories.
