Heber LDS Chapel
This is where we go to church. There are three wards in this building. Today is, of course, part of the Memorial Day weekend. Because Heber- Overgaard is a vacation/summer home spot, our attendance always swells to huge numbers on holiday weekends. Today was no different. The building can't hold all the extra people in the various classes, so we generally just have extended Sacrament Meetings. Today in our Sacrament Meeting, we did something kind of different. The theme of the meeting was the hymns and how they can add spirituality to our homes and lives and how they can be gospel sermons in and of themselves. The way it worked was that people would go up to the pulpit and say what their favorite song was and why, what page it was on and which verse they wanted the congregation to sing. It was really neat and fun, while at the same time, you could really feel the Spirit there. Music certainly does touch the soul. I didn't get up, but all of my favorites were sung, so I didn't need to.
Today is also a famous day.... It's my birthday! I turned 57. Ouch! I so don't have a problem telling my age, but it's just so hard for me to realize that I'm that old. My mind says "no, you're not", but my body says, "oh, yes you are!" It's amazing to me how fast the years have gone... I remember when my parents were this age... and I thought they were ready for the grave!... older than dirt! Well, here I am, older than dirt! But, one of my favorite sayings is "It beats the alternative!" I'm grateful for every day I'm given and look at it as a gift. The kids have called to wish me 'Happy Birthday', the little grandkids have sung to me, and my son, Robby,... dear, sweet Robby, gave me a really special gift.... news.... HE SOLD HIS MOTORCYCLE!!!!! Yea! It scared me so much for him to ride it... in fact, when he first got it, he hid it from me and swore the rest of the family to secrecy! They all knew how I felt about murdercycles, so it was by accident that I found out about it one day at Robby's house when I saw it, but it was too late, the deed was done. Doesn't matter now... he lived to tell about one time owning a motorcycle and now he doesn't.

You are welcome for selling the murdercycle. It's the least we can do for missing you on your birthday! :)
