Ok, now on with the post. I hope everyone has had a great Memorial Day weekend and of course remembered the reason we have this holiday. How lucky we are to live in this great land with all the freedoms we enjoy. I also hope all arrive safely home tonight. We had a lazy morning, slept late then went to breakfast at one of the local diners, Doc's Rim Cafe.
The food was good, but there were sure a lot of people in there with us. The traffic in town is incredible. Not only are there lots of summer/vacation homes here, but Hwy. 260, which runs right thru the middle of town, is a major road between Payson and Show Low and on up to other mountain towns popular for camping and hanging out, especially on holidays. So, all the people from the Valley, Mesa and Phoenix areas, heading to the mountains to escape the heat drive thru here.
After break- fast, we stopped by our good friends' house, Glenn & Cathey Burner... and of course Maggie! Had a nice visit, as always, with them and moved on to even more excitement.... yard sales! There are tons of yard/garage sales up here on holiday weekends, but I think we missed most of them by today. The best things are to be found on Saturdays. Oh well, if I'd found anything it would just have added more stuff to an already full house. But it's fun to look at other people's junk.
We drove around until we figured we'd seen about everything there was to see in town and now are back home, doing what we do... me on the computer and Steve on the deck with a book. Ahhh... Life on the Mountain is soooo good! The temperature is 75 degrees right now at 5:45, the high was 83 and low 41 today. There was just a slight breeze which kept the 83 from feeling too warm. Gotta love this!
