Sunday's Thought

I try to come away from my Sunday meetings with at least one good thought to ponder for the week. I thought I would share today's with anyone who might read my blog.
I've been thinking about prayer lately, as our family seems to continually come up with good reasons to need plenty of them.

We know that our Heavenly Father is all-knowing. He knows what we need, what we are experiencing, what we are struggling with, which of our children need special help, who is in pain, who has wandered, who is mourning. Yet, why is it, then, that He doesn't just fix things automatically? Why does He require us to ask for the things we want from Him? The answer is simple, we were told today. He needs to see our humility, that we remember Him and that we need Him. He needs to see us in humble supplication, on our knees, asking Him, our Father, having faith in Him, for the things of our heart. Then, in that faith, we turn it over to Him, knowing that because He can see the whole big picture, our prayers, every last one of them, will be answered in His own due time, in the proper way, in the way that is best for us. Then, having faith in Him, we accept His answer, not putting a question mark where He put a period. We then should show and express great gratitude when we receive the blessings we've petitioned Him for, and humble acceptance when the answers are not what we asked for. We, with our finite minds, cannot see into the future, let alone into the eternities. There is a plan and some day we'll know what it is. Until then, we can only rely on the Lord for our comfort. The greater testimony of and relationship with our Savior we can have, the happier and more content we will be with our lives and the challenges and struggles that enter into them.
Well, that is what I took away from church today. I hope it was something you can use, too.
Hope you all had a great day and here's hoping this week will be medically uneventful!!!

The only excitement we want this week is Kacey Michelle Shaker's High School graduation!!! You go, girl!!!

Dang Mom - that's deep! True, but deep! I came away with a simpler thought today. I think it's my new favorite scripture and it goes along with what you're talking about. Luke 12:32. I love it and I think you will too. Good job on Kacey's picture ... you're such a blogger!

Ok, yes, Karen! That is a good one! That is worth posting for any and all to see!

"Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom."
Luke 12:32
Thanks!

Wish I could make some money blogging! Of course, if it became a job, it probably wouldn't be fun anymore!
