Last week, we went into the forest near us to cut more firewood... I think Steve must be related to Paul Bunyan or something... he LOVES to chop down trees, well, I guess I mean, chain-saw down trees. He loves to split the big pieces and make nice stacks with it when he gets it back home.
The forest is amazing right now... the colors are brilliant yellows, golds, oranges and reds.... along with the green of the pines, of course. We've seen quite a few deer as we're heading back in the evening. We've seen many signs of elk, but haven't actually seen any these last two times out.
I've taken quite a few pictures of various places we past, bursts of color and pretty forest roads, etc. Hope you enjoy my pictures even half as much as we enjoy living up here!
(I love the big old dead tree in the middle of this picture.)

This is Black Canyon Lake. The water level is down quite a bit, but it's still pretty.

Aren't these neat, picturesque mountain roads? I love it!

Here's old 'Paul Bunyan' himself... picking up amazingly large and heavy chunks of an old oak tree and throwing them into the trailer.

Here's part of the tree, after having been cut into chunks and waiting for loading into the trailer.

Steve/Dad loads and stacks precisely to get the most in.

It really does amaze me the size and weight of stuff he can pick up!! Remember, this is OAK, a heavy hardwood. I guess the years of construction has taught him how to do it without messing up his back., (I wonder, however, what his cardiologist would say.... ummm?)

Here's a piece TWICE the regular size cuz it didn't get sawn all the way thru...

WHEW!!! Done! Nice job, my man! Lots of good, long-burning oak... Now for some nice quiet evenings in front of the fireplace, eh?!!

Thanks, Babe, for all your hard work! Love ya tons! (By the way, I'll be glad to take pictures of it anytime! teehee!)

pretty pictures! we were just up in pinetop and the leaves and trees were really pretty like that too!
Yeah, Jen... He does pretty good for being 63, doesn't he!
Steve and you are doing things in reverse order of Don and I. I remember the beautiful forest and firewooding. I loved it! He put the girls to work...I'm sure they didn't love it as much. The smell of fresh cut firewood is so nostalgic to me. Lucky you.
My Dad is a stud.
