New Gila Valley Temple progress...

On Tuesday we drove by the construction site of the new Gila Valley Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints which is located in Central, Arizona. As you would expect, it is beautiful... I have no idea what the target completion date is, but much work has been done, yet much is still left to be done.

Actually, when I say we drove by, I am not exactly accurate with that statement... We actually entered the job site, drove around, snapped pictures, and then as we were leaving, we were stopped by a man who was probably the Job Superintendent. He very respectfully, and politely, asked if we were working on the site, and in not so many words when he found out we were not, requested we remove ourselves from the place! Apparently, it is a closed job site and people aren't suppose to just wander around... I guess that is one of those cases where forgiveness was probably easier than permission...
Anyway, here is a front view, just inside the gate, (which WAS open, by the way). Apparently there is only one entrance into the grounds, both for the temple and a new chapel which is also under construction just next door to the left (east). I don't know if it will remain with only one entrance as it is finished, but we didn't see any other obvious entrances or exits. This next shot is the rear view of the temple. This picture below is of the new chapel which is located just to the left (east) of the temple. We are on the common road between the two buildings. This next view shows the two buildings side by side. East of the chapel is a very large activity area, ball field, bleachers, etc. It will be a very nice addition to the community. The final picture is the east side of temple. It will be fun to see it when all the landscaping is finished. We say many, many more trees waiting to be planted. This temple is not on any kind of rise or hill. The area is very flat. I'm glad we weren't arrested for being nosey!
The following pictures are of some areas we passed through. The Fall colors are exquisite. We brought some branches with gorgeous leaves home to enjoy a little longer... Look at all the fallen leaves... there gazillions of them!Have a happy day, fellow bloggers!

O.K. so I am guessing it was a joke that you actually came within 1/4 mile of my house and didn't call. If it wasn't for a house that was built just in front of us, we would see Moroni from our front porch. Dang you guys!

Your pictures are wonderful--thanks for sharing! I love the autumn change of leaves, but alas they are falling everywhere in our yard--tons of them and guess who'll have to clean them up. . .
